The Centre of Contemporary Art (CoCA) is committed to establishing and maintaining a vibrant, relevant, accessible and world-class contemporary gallery in the heart of Christchurch. To ensure that CoCA can achieve its vision, we are seeking a talented and energetic Gallery Coordinator to join the team.

This is a very exciting time in CoCA’s long and proud history.  At the beginning of this year the gallery reopened to the public after having been closed for five years due to earthquake damage.  CoCA now has an exquisitely renovated building and a radically reinvigorated purpose:  Sharing stimulating art experiences that engage people in conversations about contemporary life and culture.  CoCA is committed to making a unique contribution to the cultural life of Christchurch by presenting contemporary art programmes that enrich and strengthen our community; enabling and encouraging critical dialogue about the world we live in.

The Gallery Coordinator will be an integral part of CoCA’s team.   The successful candidate will be responsible for the logistics and the administration of the gallery and its operations. The Gallery Coordinator will also support the artists who exhibit their work in the gallery. Facilities management and managing the hire of the venue will be important components of the role.

The Gallery Coordinator will report to the Artistic Director but will work closely with all members of the CoCA team including the Business Development Director.

Key Skills 

Effective leadership and people management skills; Demonstrable experience in office administration; Experience in facilities management; An effective problem solver with excellent collaborative and relationship management skills;  Excellent planning and organisational skills; Excellent written and oral communication skills;  Computer literate in all MS systems; Experience with CRMs and Xero an advantage;  Passion for contemporary visual art.

Full time 5 days a week, $40,000
