Tour. Walking Tour with Avon-Ōtākaro Network

Book Ticket

Avon Ōtākaro Network and CoCA invite you to join us on this free public talk/walking tour around the Ōtākaro/Avon River on Saturday 14th January. The walk starts in the eastern reaches of the city -- starting and ending at Avonside Girls’ High School with a resting place half way through the walk where light refreshments will be provided.

The 2.5 hour tour includes a leisurely paced walk around the Red Zone, discussing the landscape being traversed and the role of the Avon Ōtākaro Network; what they are working on at the moment, future projects and other ideas. One of the central parts of their advocacy is that while over a $100M has been spent on the Avon in the CBD, nothing is being spent east of Fitzgerald Ave, which is ignored by CCC and the city in general.

The tour is free, but limited to a maximum of 50 guests - please register via the CoCA booking system.

Meet at Avonside Girls Highschool, Avonside Road at 2pm (look for the yellow CoCA Event Sign)

Please wear robust walking shoes - sections may be muddy

Dress appropriately for the weather (sunblock/rain jacket)

Due to the nature of the landscape, this tour is not appropriate for those with limited mobility, wheelchairs or pushchairs.
