Workshop. Drawing Party - SOLD OUT
As part of Mark Work, we are hosting a rolling cast of tutors for a drawing party at CoCA this August.
Each tutor will suggest alternative ways of tackling a drawing - taking inspiration from different forms, the architecture of the gallery and current exhibitions.
Join us for a series of sketching exercises where you can flex your creative and observational drawing skills.
Materials will be provided. Sessions are 30 minutes long and free to attend - register for each individually via the links below. Suitable for participants aged 10 years and over.
12pm – 12.30pm
Working in a deliberately monochrome palette, Mark Soltero makes paintings, prints and drawings that interrogate relationships between image, memory and materiality. Mark will lead participants to experiment with a range of media and create drawings from memory. Book here for Mark's session
12.45pm – 1.15pm
Jacquelyn Greenbank utilises found objects, recycled materials and meticulously intricate hand crafted objects within her varied practice. Well known for her sculptural works, Jac will explore light and shadow through cardboard assemblage in this session. Book here for Jacquelyn's session
1.30pm – 2pm
Emma Fitts works with canvas to create layered assemblages of contrasting colours, shapes and textures. Her works are carefully constructed collages referencing objects, bodies and spaces and this session will take cues from her practice as a starting point for drawing. Book here for Emma's session
2.15pm – 2.45pm
Nichola Shanley is a Lyttelton-based artist who spans a diverse range of media with her whimsical imagery and distinctive, textural mark-making. For this session, participants will think about how everything is worthy of drawing, be it the everyday or ancestral spirit life. Book here for Nichola's session
