Opening. Gently Ribbed - Opening Celebration
Please join us on Friday 2nd September from 5.30pm to celebrate the opening of our new exhibition in the Ō Papa gallery.
Gently Ribbed is a playful installation by Turumeke Harrington, presented with accompanying writing and discussion led by Tini Whetū and collaborators. This exhibition takes Harrington's voluminous, snaking patchwork as an invitation to reflect on domestic labour, Māori cosmology and moving through life.
Turumeke Harrington (Ngāi Tahu) creates large sculptural installations at the intersection of art and design, exploring whakapapa, space, colour and material. Tini Whetū Project Space is a curatorial passion project facilitated by Piupiu Maya Turei (Ngāti Kahungunu, Rangitāne) which curates enjoyable art experiences rooted in kaupapa Māori methodologies.
