This particular body of work photographs the demolition and development of the area Bright grew up in; an already expanding district spurred on by the need for land after the Canterbury earthquakes.

The Artist

Mitchell Bright (born 1994) is a Selwyn based photographer engaging with his local environment through long term documentary projects. His work focuses on the human relationship to the landscape and how it is valued and utilized. His images in this body of work delve into the state between destruction and construction, the continuously shifting boundaries between old and new and the fringes that become a no-man’s land.
