SCAPE 2018: Tom Dale
CoCA is proud to present two works by Tom Dale as part of SCAPE's 2018 season.
As part of the stunning program on offer for SCAPE 2018, CoCA is proud to present The Red Zone, a video work by UK artist Tom Dale. Shot in October 2017 in the Burwood area of Christchurch’s Red Zone, the work explores the changing states of our surroundings and the turbulence of our interior realms, speaking of moments of rupture and forces of resilience.
It is presented in CoCA’s forecourt alongside an earlier video work, A Cage for Voices, where the depths of the ocean are probed by a voice looking to understand the significance of a series of objects that fall through the water from the surface above.
Aside from being on display 24/7 for the duration of SCAPE 2018, these video works can also be viewed throughout the season online and within the opening weekend public programmes at Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetū’s auditorium on Sunday 7 October 2018.
Tom Dale has also contributed a sculpture to SCAPE 2018, Monument to the Present, which can be viewed on the corners of Chester St West and Durham St North.
